VSNL gets 26% stake in SNO.(Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd.)(Brief Article)

India Telecom, February, 2005

The Tata-owned Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (VSNL) has been given a 26% stake in South African telecom operator SNO.

As informed by South Africa's Telecommunications Minister Ivy Matsepe-Casaburi, Tatas will control SNO along with NEXUS, which has a 19% share and state companies of Eskom and Transnet both have 15% stake each. The minister also said that the Tata Group has been granted the share after a long drawn-out bidding process.
