India Telecom, February, 2008

Israel-based Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. would provide Indian mobile operator Bharti Airtel with a broadband satellite network, which consists of over 13,000 two-way ground satellite stations. Using Gilat's SkyEdge technology, Bharti Airtel would use the new network for providing communication and information services to the people living in the Indian state of Gujarat.

Erez Antebi, CEO of Gilat Network Systems, said that this deal would enable the citizens of Gujarat to access new e-governance services. Gilat is a provider of VSATs (very small aperture terminals) in India. The company's SkyEdge satellite communications system is well known for providing good-quality broadband, voice, data, and video services on a unified system.
