Bandwidth providers forced to reroute their Internet traffic.(INTERNET)

Global bandwidth operators like VSNL, Reliance, and Bharti Airtel were forced to carry their Internet traffic via alternative routes and had to use the backup network owing to the badly damaged subsea cable near Egypt. Reports suggest that millions of corporate and residential Internet users are likely to encounter connectivity problems in the next 10-15 days.

Bharti is rerouting its Internet traffic via i2i, while the Tatas have been forced to reroute through the SMW-3 cable and Tata Indicom cable. Reliance has rerouted its net traffic via its partner networks. BSNL said that its network remained unaffected, as its traffic is routed though Sri Lanka.
