ThyssenKrupp to purchase Macedonian ferronickel.(Brief Article)

Mining Journal, July, 2001

The German engineering and industrial group ThyssenKrupp has agreed to purchase US$40 million of ferronickel a year for five years from Macedonia-based Feni Industries. This agreement is designed to facilitate the acquisition of Feni by Societe Commerciale de Metaux et Minerais, through which Macedonia hopes to comply with World Bank demands that Macedonia's top ten loss-making companies must be either closed or privatised.

ThyssenKrupp has overseen the financing arrangements and provided technical advice for the proposed acquisition, and will provide further technical advice and management support over the next five years.
