WWU professor Zaferatos chairs international workshop

Bellingham Business Journal, July, 2008

Western Washington University professor Nicholas Zaferatos chaired the fourth and final international workshop on sustainable community development in Kefalonia, Greece.

The workshops, funded by the EuroMed Anna Lindh Foundation, focused on the development of a fair trade olive-oil economy linking rural communities of the Mediterranean region to the global marketplace. The project established a network for Euro-Med partnerships among communities in Jordan, Palestine, Greece, Tunisia and Italy. Participants in the conference included students from WWU and other universities who are currently enrolled in the Kefalonia Program in Sustainable Community Development, which is sponsored by WWU's Huxley College of the Environment, the Northwest Council for Study Abroad and AHA.
