Major European tire manufacturers are making a bid to enter the eastern European tire market following the decision by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. to acquire either TC Debica SA or Stomil-Olsztyn SA. The move comes after the decision by Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. to acquire Pneumant. Eastern European tire manufacturers are eager to enter into mergers due to their desire to obtain capital and technology from established global tire makers.
