FEA for all as costs fall? (finite element analysis)(includes related articles)

Many rubber manufacturers are adopting finite element analysis (FEA) systems in their product design and enhancement operations. The primary factors influencing FEA's popularity among rubber companies has been the significant decline in capital outlays needed to adopt the technology. Companies are now able to purchase FEA workstations for only 10,000 to 20,000 pounds sterling compared to 80,000 pounds sterling ten years ago. Moreover, new FEA workstations are easy to use and can readily integrated into a company's computer network.

Despite the complex theory, FEA is becoming more accessible as a standard design/development tool as the cost of the workstations plummets
