OSHA Bulletin highlights NR latex.

The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued a bulletin outlining problems with NR latex allergies in the workplace.

This bulletin, the subject of controversy between those with a stake in the latex allergy issue, "is intended to alert (OSHA) field personnel to the potential for allergic reactions in some individuals using natural rubber latex products, particularly gloves, in the workplace setting," the agency states in the bulletin's introduction.

Health care workers--particularly dentists and operating room physicians, nurses and technicians--experience high rates of sensitisation to latex, ranging from 6 to 17 percent, although not all these suffer any symptoms. And the majority are able to use natural rubber latex...
