Hankook gains OE pact with Ford for mini-spare.

Korean company signs first OE contract in the USA, but it is only for a high pressure minispare going into Ford. Hankook will supply all US-built Focus cars with S300 tyres made in Korea.

Hankook Tire Co Ltd has gained entry to the US original equipment market through a pact with Ford Motor Co, albeit initially with only a mini-spare tyre.

Hankook will supply Ford with its S300, high-pressure radial spare tyres for US-produced 2000 model year Focus automobiles. Since Hankook has no production in the US, it will manufacture the tyres in South Korea and ship them to Ford's Wayne, Michigan, vehicle assembly plant.
