Elastomer parts on the new space station do a tough job under extremes of temperature, pressure and load.

Parker Hannifin Corp. will provide more than 3000 valve and seal assemblies to the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration and its contractors to help build the International space station, currently under construction.

Parker was chosen as a supplier partly because of its worldwide reach and understanding of international engineering guidelines, the company said. The space station is a collaboration between 15 countries, and contractors all over the world are supplying parts, a spokesman said.
