Rhodia claims to be a world leader in specialty chemicals for various products.
The French chemical supplier says it is world leader in high-performance precipitated silica, used in tyre reinforcement. At the beginning of the 1990s Rhodia invented a new generation of silica: Highly Dispersible Silicas (HDS) for high-performance tyres.
With the new silica, `green' tyres which incorporate a large amount of silica in their treads, were developed.
