Alpha focus on shop floor.(News)(production process analyser)

: Alpha Technologies has simplified and adapted its production process analyser (PPA) system to suit shop-floor requirements. The changes-which include simplifying the operation of the unit, reducing the number of samples queued for analysis, and shrinking the unit's footprint-represent the latest stage in the 15-year development of the PPA, said Henry Burhin, technical specialist with Alpha Technologies.
"It is the next step forward," said Edward Rodger, the firm's technical director, "the trend is to have the [units on the] shop floor. In the lab, you typically have to deal with 10-100 samples, but on the shop floor that is over-kill, you only need a queue of a few samples," he explained, pointing out that the sample-feed system is simplified by using a...
