Cashmere WSDOT employee honored.(Washington. Department of Transportation's Rob Sweigard receives 2005 Extra Mile Award for exemplary public service)(Brief Article)

North Central Region Area 1 Maintenance Tech II Rob Sweigard is one of a dozen state employees honored with a 2005 Extra Mile Award for exemplary public service.
In Sweigard's case, the award recognizes his contribution at the 2004 Fischer Fire Command Center. Sweigard is a long-time volunteer firefighter for the city of Cashmere and knows the surrounding terrain extremely well. That knowledge was critical to the decisions facing the fire incident commanders and Sweigard was swiftly drafted into the command center. He took leave of both WSDOT and his family for the duration of the fire suppression effort.
