Before Cherry Creek Radio of Denver, Colo. purchased KPQ last year for $3.4 million, Debi Campestrini, aka "Jave Mama" and former KPQ operations director, tried to buy the then family-owned radio station from John and James Wallace of Wescoast Broadcasting.

She and Greg McEwen, KPO's former general sales manager, spent most of 2006 approaching hanks, investors and the station's owners with offers to either purchase the station outright, or in part.
