One of the first things a person notices about Charles Bofferding is his size, something along the order of a defensive tackle for the Seattle Seahawks.

But even bigger is his devotion to engineers and technicians working at the Boeing Co. For 10 years, Bofferding has been the executive director for the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace.

He had been an engineer with Boeing for 11 years before becoming SPEEAs leader. He was an engineer with Boeing Aerospace Co., the defense side of the company. He worked out of Seattle, Tulalip, Renton and Kent offices developing projects such as Sealance, a stand off weapon for submarines, and Stinger anti-aircraft missiles that are blasted from pods bolted to the back of Humvee military...
