Every once in a while there comes along a mother and daughter business. Usually mom is in charge. The daughter works under mom's tutelage until she takes over the business when mom retires.
But mom's not in charge at Melody Grondahl's Allstate Insurance office at 7024 Evergreen Way.
"I'm officially the boss," said Melody Grondahl with a smile. "But we have been best friends forever."
The 38-year-old insurance agent has held court at her Allstate office for 11 years, and has worked for Allstate since 1981. Seven years ago, with business being brisk, she hired her mother, Gail Grondahl to become the third licensed employee at the office. But the decision wasn't a quick one. It took about six months.
