Intermec making wi-fi inroads in California. (The Buzz).(high-speed Internet access)(Brief Article)

Intermec Technologies of Everett has sold wi-fi technology to the Long Beach, Calif. Airport, allowing passengers at the terminal high-speed Internet access at no charge.

Anyone with a laptop or a Microsoft Windows Pocket PC that has an 802.11b wireless radio card, can access the Internet anywhere within the airport's boundaries. Earlier in the year, Intermec developed wireless capability at Long Beach's Pine Avenue, a street full of restaurants and things to do.

The economic development bureau at the city of Long Beach chose Intermec to develop the system because of its experience.
