Conoco to build 730-megawatt Combined Heat/Power U.K. plant.(Conoco Global Power Ltd.)(Brief Article)

Conoco Global Power (U.K.) Limited has the go-ahead for one of the largest, cleanest and most efficient Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants in Europe, to be built alongside its industry-leading Humber refinery in the United Kingdom. Conoco Global Power (U.K.) Limited is a subsidiary of Conoco Inc. (NYSE:COC).

Construction will begin immediately on the 730-megawatt plant on land owned by Conoco adjacent to the company's Humber refinery at South Killingholme, North Lincolnshire. Completion is expected in early 2004.

The facility will supply steam and electricity to the Humber refinery, steam to a neighboring refinery and electricity to the National Grid. It also will have the capacity to provide an alternative, highly efficient and competitive source...
