Spain's Telefonica announced it completed a deal to purchase a 65% stake in minor Mexican cell phone company Pegaso for US$87 million from Sprint Corp. and Leap Wireless. Telef6nica signed a memorandum for the purchase--still subject to regulatory approval--which will make it the No.2 player in Mexico, last March.
The Spanish company said it will invest US$2.5 billion in Mexico over the next three years.
