Lucent Technologies Awarded $150 Million Network Expansion Contract by Saudi Telecom Co.(Brief Article)

Lucent announced that Saudi Telecom Co. (STC), a provider of telecommunications services in Saudi Arabia, has awarded Lucent a four-year master purchase agreement and a first work order to expand the nationwide wireline network in the Kingdom by 150,000 subscriber lines with a value of over $150 million.

Lucent will install remote access equipment, including the AnyMedia Access System, throughout the kingdom and upgrade the network's existing 5ESS switching capability to accommodate the larger user base. STC will offer broadband services such as asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL). Lucent Worldwide Services will provide professional design and engineering expertise as well as installation and integration.
