Actiontec Electronics announced the upcoming release of optical network terminals (ONTs) designed to support GPON fiber deployments to the home. Scheduled to ship in the second half of 2007, the devices will enable Actiontec to supply broadband service providers with complete consumer premises equipment solutions for every IPTV delivery scenario, from ADSL2 and fiber-to-the-curb/VDSL-to-the-house to GPON-based fiber networks running all the way to the subscriber s door.

The addition of ONTs to Actiontec s product line is part of a larger strategy that will enable service providers to significantly reduce the cost of CPE installations in GPON environments. That strategy will be unveiled later this year.
