Algeria is likely to witness the launch of a nationwide fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network in 2008. This major development is triggered by the fact that the country is exploring various opportunities to roll out triple-play technology comprising broadband, voice, and television services. In this context, Algerie Telecom has become the first service provider in Africa to use the fiber-to-the-home technology, as it wants to capitalize on the opportunities presented by triple-play services.
