BAN ON DOG AND CAT FUR TRADE.

The EU Council adopted by qualified majority (Italy voted against), on 26 November, a regulation banning the sale and import into or export out of the EU of dog and cat fur and products containing it. Exceptional and punctual dispensations can be planned for educational reasons or for taxidermy.

The European Parliament gave its opinion in first reading on 19 June 2007.
