EU/MONTENEGRO : REHN CALLS FOR FURTHER POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC EFFORT.(European Union)

Montenegro achieved independence in June 2006 after a referendum, but the new state has much to do to build up its institutional capacity to implement the Stabilisation and Association Agreement currently being negotiated, according to Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn, who presented the European Commission's progress reports on potential candidate countries (see separate articles) on 8 November. These priorities are outlined in the country's Europeapartnership project.
