Doug Carlson, weatherization coordinator at the Five County Association of Governments, Cedar City, Utah, sent me these photos of a water heater installation that a weatherization crew found in Cedar City, Utah. What I want to know is, why didn't somebody die in this situation?
The water heater draft hood was connected to an old dryer hose and vent, and the gas line was a rubber hose. Fortunately, we took care of the problem. The third picture shows the end result.
