FAA scraps contracting program after IG's criticism.

The Federal Aviation Administration is shutting down its RESULTS contracting program after the Transportation Department's inspector general said the support services vehicle was poorly managed.
RESULTS is a multiple award contract with 142 vendors and $543 million in awards. The IG found that less than one-fourth of the contracts were competed; another one-fourth were open for competition but drew only a single bid.
"We found that most sole-source awards were made based on manager's preference for working with a known individual contractor, an unacceptable reason," the IG report said.
