J.D. Power and Associates reports: residential dial-up Internet service subscribers would prefer DSL over cable modem if access were equally available.(Market Intelligence)

Dial-up Internet subscribers who would switch to high-speed access would most likely choose to upgrade to DSL service over cable modem if both were available in their areas, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2003 Internet Service Provider Residential Customer Satisfaction Study released recently.

The study, now in its sixth year, finds that when dial-up respondents were asked about which service they would switch to if all forms of dial-up and high-speed Internet service were available, 52 percent who said they would switch to high-speed Internet would switch to DSL, compared to 38 percent who would choose cable.
