Brazil's data market sized at US$2 billion.(INTERNATIONAL)

According to the IDC, the Brazilian data transmission industry generated US$2.1 billion of revenues last year. The figure represents a 9.2 percent growth compared to 2002. Embratel, the leading long-distance provider, and the three incumbent fixed-line operators, Brasil Telecom, Telefonica, and Telemar, represent 84 percent of the market.
By 2008, IDC estimates that the sector will grow to US$2.8 billion.
