Telefonica gains 1,500 new FixedLine clients outside its service area in Brazil.(Brazil)(Brief Article)
Latin America Telecom, October, 2003
The incumbent fixed-line operator, which focuses on the Sao Paolo metropolitan area, obtained 1,500 new clients outside this region. Telefonica officials said that the Spanish operator does not proactively pursue clients outside its service area due to the declining demand in the residential sector and the high interconnection fees.
Furthermore, Telefonica's strategy is to guarantee high-quality service to its customers based in the Sao Paolo area that need to communicate with its satellite offices around Brazil.
