Alcatel and CANTV, the principal operator in Venezuela and a subsidiary of Verizon, have signed a strategic 5-year agreement to foster the development of broadband telecommunications networks and applications.

In accordance with this agreement, Alcatel will contribute its vast experience in digital subscriber line (DSL) and digital loop carrier (DLC) access technologies and in SDH and DWDM transmission. Alcatel also contributes the expertise to enable operators to incorporate the latest technological breakthroughs into their networks, and to benefit from economies of scale, in order to deploy a modern end-to-end network.
