Telemar leads domestic long distance race in Brazil.(Brazil)(Brief Article)

During the first six months of the year the three incumbent fixed-line operators, Telemar, Telefonica, and Brasil Telecom, surpassed Embratel in the domestic long-distance market. Jarbas Valente, the superintendent of private services of telecom regulator Anatel, disclosed the figures. According to the study, Telemar leads the sector with 26.6 percent of the long-distance market, followed by Telefonica with 24.1 percent, Brasil Telecom with 21.5 percent and the leading international long-distance operator Embratel with 21 percent.
