America Movil to invest US$120 million in Ecuador.(Mexico)(Brief Article)

The Mexican mobile phone giant with operations across Latin America revealed that it would invest US$120 million to expand the service coverage of its Ecuadorian operator Porta. It also announced that it would reduce rates with the entry of Telefonica Moviles into the market via the acquisition of BellSouth Ecuador.

"We know how to compete against them," reassured the president of America Movil, Daniel Hajj. He also said that the company's sales strategy would not be altered. "Basically we will expand service coverage and reduce costs." He added that the company's strategy is long term and that in the next three years, it expects to triple the number of customers to 6 million.
