According to the telecom regulator in Peru, Osiptel, the rates charged for DSL service in Peru are the most expensive in the region and up to 47.57 percent higher than neighboring countries.

The broadband service offered by incumbent Telefonica costs US$55.93 per month, compared to what the company charges in Brazil (US$26.42), Argentina (US$35.40) and Chile (US$37.50), where it also operates.

Osiptel also cited differences in the quality of service the company provides in Peru compared to the aforementioned countries.
