Cisco sees VoB explosion in Brazil.(voice over broadband, Tmais, Linksys Group Inc., Cisco Systems Inc.)(Brief Article)

Voice over broadband is beginning to take a foothold in Brazil, as evidenced by an agreement signed by Cisco's Linksys and telecom operator Tmais that will enable stores like Fnac and Fast Shop to offer VoB to end customers. Also, retail stores CTIS of Brasilia, MMS of Santos, and Submarino already sell VoB.

Emerson Yoshimura, Southern Cone manager for Linksys, believes that there will be a boom of its products during the upcoming Christmas season. Yoshimura expects VoB to be more important than Wi-Fi for Linksys and that there are three or four major operators that want to close 2005 with 1,000 to 3,000 new VoB customers per month.
