We live in extraordinary times. Last week, the BBC's business editor Robert Peston or the war correspondent for the credit crunch, if you prefer suggested in The Times that for developed economies, the current crisis was arguably more important than the collapse of communism. He went on to argue that the coming years would witness the emergence of a new form of capitalism, fairer and less alienating that the version we have been used to.
