Fiduciary management is a concept that appears to have creeped up on trustees all of a sudden. Eighteen months ago, few had heard of it and now you can't open a copy of a pensions magazine without a news article about a provider of fiduciary services or a feature explaining its benefits.

Then came the barrage of alternative monikers for similar products: implemented consulting, delegated consulting et al. This was highly confusing for us journalists, let alone trustees.
