The tumbling stock markets of the past three years have not been kind to asset management groups, least of all fund management companies that have a growth style. However, this has not prevented the Dutch fund manager ABN Amro Asset Management, from topping the table for winning e12.7bn of new balanced and multi-asset mandates in the year to June 2002.
The growth style of fund management may have suffered in the two and a half year bear market, but ABN Amro argues that it has been successful in winning mandates over the past 12 months because of the desire of trustees and consultants of large pension funds to maintain and expand the diversification of their investments.
