Asset Allocation: Market Analysis - Europe - Awaiting promised Orange harvest.

It is nearly a year and a half ago when the world watched as thousands of Ukrainians descended upon the capital's Independence Square dressed in orange. Outraged by the rigging of the presidential elections, the citizens rallied against the government to overturn the results.

The vote was re-run and observers reported a much fairer election, which led to the victory of the hero of the newly christened 'Orange Revolution', Viktor Yushchenko. It was clear that Ukraine was polarised in its beliefs. The more Russian-speaking industrial eastern region remained deeply suspicious of the liberal Orange Revolution agenda and instead preferred continued warm relations with its large neighbour.
