Investors are on the move, says Mercer.

INVESTORS have moved into equities and fixed income this year at money market's expense, according to Mercer.

In its quarterly Defined Contribution Universe summary, Barry McInerney, worldwide partner at Mercer Investment Consulting in the US, said there had been considerable re-allocation of assets since January.

"While volatility was high in the quarter, so was investor confidence, as people raised allocations to equities and fixed income at the expense of money market options," he said.

However, Mr McInerney said a basic knowledge of market theory would help participants to compare the performance and risk results of active and passive funds within their portfolio.
