IFAs' use of online decision support tools is up -- PwC.

An increasing number of IFAs are leaning on online decision support tools, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers.

A study conducted by the accountant, entitled Weapons of Mass Computation, said that more than 50 per cent of the major UK life insurers now use the model designed and launched by its sister company Barrie & Hibbert to report risk to financial regulators.

This is also used by IFAs looking to make portfolio decisions whether through fund supermarkets or for traditional investment bond-type policies.

Philip Mowbray, lead analyst of DecisionsDecisions, a company that provides support tools for the retail investment market, said his company had reported significant growth over the course of 2004.
