Investment Adviser: You are known for your thematic investing. Have you seen your investment philosophy trump more traditional geographic methodology? Guy Monson: The initial assumptions we made about globalisation in 1996 have been exceeded by multiples. We never believed that we would see emerging market bond spreads collapse, and the inclusion of emerging market companies into the mainstream is way ahead of anything we expected. Despite the technology boom, and although the key influences of the internet are no greater than we expected, the pervasiveness of the internet as a means of global communication and international production chains is way in excess of what we expected.
