The AGBP40.5m Credit Suisse MultiManager Sterling bond portfolio was one of the best performing corporate bond funds among its peers last year, although it lagged the Trustnet UK Equity and Bond sector, which includes mandates to hold up to 85 per cent in equities.

The fund, which must invest at least 80 per cent in investment-grade sterling denominated or sterling hedged bonds, lost 0.26 per cent of its value over 12 months, yet it was still ranked second out of 96 funds in the IMA UK Corporate Bond sector, testament to the tough environment of rising inflation and interest rates.
