Retail investors continued to channel money into equities in 2006, helping UK inflows grow at a faster rate than anywhere else in Europe, a report has found.

The report by consultants McKinsey & Company said at 7 per cent, retail inflows to the UK had been the highest in Europe, mainly due to a strong appetite for equity funds.

This trend was confined to the UK as money has been pouring out of equities in all other major markets, the report added.
