Byline: Chairman approaches 20 asset management firms with view to taking over trust

The chairman of the AGBP1.3m Witan investment trust has approached more than 20 asset management firms with the view to take over its AGBP600m UK Mainstream mandate.

James de Sausmarez, head of investment trusts for current manager Henderson Global Investors, said Witan had not yet threatened to fire the company, despite Witan's managing director James Budden saying the mandate was likely to be removed and given to another fund house.

Jupiter, Neptune and Artemis were all named as potential suitors to take over the investment giant's entire large-cap capacity, after their UK teams outperformed both Henderson and the FTSE All-Share over three years.
