Manager claims cash-rich technology companies have proved defensive during downturn

Polar Capital Technology trust manager Ben Rogoff said he remains confident about the future of the technology sector despite reporting a fall in the trust's NAV over the past 12 months.

The trust saw NAV per share drop 4.4 per cent to 216.8p for the 12 months to April 30, compared with 226.72p per share for the prior-year period.

"It's been a very tricky year for equities," he said. "The good news was the sector performed its best relative fiscal performance since 2000."
