Former Insight duo launch Armstrong multi-asset boutique.

The former co-heads of the multi-asset group at Insight Investment have founded a new Sloane Square-based multi-asset boutique, in what will be seen as a riposte to accelerating retail fund consolidation and the decimation of the alternative multi-manager industry.

Patrick Armstrong and Ana Cukic Armstrong have set up Armstrong Investment Managers as managing partners alongside Toby Hayes, a former director and colleague at Insight's multi-asset group and now a partner at the new firm.

Armstrong described the move as "contrarian" after BlackRock and Barclays Global Investors (BGI) merged to form the world's largest asset manager and many investors fled to large, financially stable institutions.
