Watson Wyatt has picked up three new mandates to provide investment consultancy. Uniq, Sunderland Marine and TUI UK (Thomson Holidays) will all now benefit from their investment advice.

Walter Scott & Partners, the Edinburgh-based equity manager, is to be bought by Mellon Asset Management.

The GBP14.3bn global equity specialist is to be acquired as part of Mellon's strategy to enhance its non-US equity offering, and will bring the US managers assets under management to GBP465bn.

Standard Life Investments has seen its strongest trading period yet for its mutual fund range over the first quarter of 2006. Gross sales increased from GBP110m (Q1 2005) to GBP420m (Q1 2006).
