Pooled funds are going from strength to strength and bigger schemes are increasingly seeing them as a way of minimising costs and matching assets more closely with liability.

Once the preserve of small to medium-sized schemes, they are gaining a reputation for being a sound investment vehicle and, to an extent, are increasingly being used because of the continued popularity of liability- driven investment (LDI).

Additionally, bigger schemes are using pooled funds as an investment method and means to access what would otherwise be time-consuming and complicated structures.
