Television Corporation has regained profitability, but still has some way to go before convincing investors it can get the returns it ought to out of its production assets. The omens look good, though. The group's main production arm now has twice the amount of work contracted as it did at the same time last year.

New heads of entertainment, science and current affairs have been recruited. And sports arm Sunset & Vine has had some important contracts renewed. The Channel 4 cricket contract will be reviewed next year. Television Corporation is still having trouble finding a buyer willing to pay a worthwhile price for the Visions outside-broadcast business but, as it is trading strongly, there is no urgency.
