Forty new store openings last year meant that Domino's missed chief executive Stephen Hemsley's target of 50. But now with 357 stores - and the infrastructure to service 500 - the company is well-placed to benefit further from its operational gearing. "Finding properties and franchisees has been a problem," says Mr Hemsley. "But, as the market leader, we now have more delivery stores than numbers two and three put together, while our sales outstrip the combined total sales for numbers two, three and four in the market."

The regular addition of new outlets has helped underpin 50 per cent compound annual earnings growth over the past five years. Domino's now claims to deliver one in 10 of all home-delivered meals in the UK, and hopes to benefit from further...
